Research Teams at Lake Hazen

Concerted research efforts at Lake Hazen date back to the International Geophysical Year in 1957-58, when a team of 4 scientists overwintered at Lake Hazen camp, now a Parks Canada station within Quttinirpaaq National Park. Their exploits are documented in the memoir, "Can Anyone Read Lake Hazen?"

Building off from their seminal work, research teams from across Canada and internationally continue to use the watershed as a model system for bettering our understanding of the natural world, with a special emphasis on rapidly changing High Arctic ecosystems.
